Noren + Tapestries

Made by the Kiyoe father and son team, these noren and tapestries are handcrafted using indigo dye and sumi ink — the same kind used in calligraphy. The original designs are at home in any contemporary space.

A local, family workshop in Kyoto uses long-standing techniques wax-resist dyeing noren. The abstract patterning is at once traditional and modern.

Highlighting the skills of the makers, these decorative pieces have unique elements like rope braiding and embroidery that enhance their appeal.
