Bring the forests of Japan into your home: each set comes with 50 Sugi Incense (Cedar) and 50 Hinoki Incense (Cypress), as well as a classic Nanbu Tekki stand made by a 16th-generation cast-iron artisan family.

The texture of the cast iron stand is inspired by the traditional woodworking technique of naguri, where wood is scooped or hammered to bring a three-dimensional texture to flat surfaces.

The history of incense in Japan dates back to an April day in 595 AD, according to The Chronicles of Japan (720 AD) when a piece of aromatic wood drifted to the shores of Awaji Island. With its year-long warm climate and ample sea breeze, the island is an ideal place to dry the incense - a crucial process in its making.
